How do I verify my identity?
How do I verify my identity?
Updated over a year ago

To use the Birchal platform, you will be required to provide us with some information about yourself so that we can verify your identity.

The information we require may differ from person to person depending on the circumstances.

You can verify your ID here, or otherwise during the investment application process.

How to verify during the investment application process

Then complete step 5 as follows:

Enter your ID document country, type, number and state.

You will need to ensure that the information on your identify document matches the information you entered at Step 3. If it doesn't, we may have difficulty verifying your identity which could restrict your use of the Birchal platform.

If you are based in Australia, we will typically use your Australian driver's licence or passport to verify your identity.

Some overseas identity documents may be accepted as well. If you have a non-Australian document you would like to use instead, please select the relevant country from the drop down list and review the document options available.

If we can't verify your identity with the information you have provided, we will contact you by email and/or SMS to let you know.

This is often because your personal details on Birchal don't exactly match your ID document (e.g. middle name or address).

We may require you to resubmit your ID information.

If we still cannot verify your identity, we may ask you to upload a copy of your identity document via our secure document upload function.

Please note, we will not be able to settle your investment application until we have verified your identity so please action quickly.

We may also cancel your application if we do not receive a response from you within a reasonable time, or if we are still unable to verify your identity after additional investigations.

If you have any questions about this, please contact [email protected]

An example of an email we may send to you in this situation is below.
